Pika's Premiere, Jasper's Wisdom and Google's Gemini Drama
Welcome to another whirlwind week in the AI cosmos! Pika’s slowly emerging from the shadows, teasing the public with its glimmers of brilliance. Meanwhile, Jasper—basically the internet’s darling AI content creation maestro—dropped a keynote on how to escape the stagnant realm of AI experimentation.
Now, hold onto your keyboards, folks. Just when we thought the AI world might simmer down after the Sam Altman-OpenAI rollercoaster, Google swooped in with a scandalous plot twist! Brace yourselves because they allegedly faked the whole shebang with Gemini AI, their shiny new toy. And they are definitely feeling the heat for jazzing up Gemini's demo reel. And here we were thinking scandals were so last season!

TOOLS SPOTLIGHT
Pika
Two weeks ago, the internet exploded with Pika’s new video ad, promising to revolutionize the video creation process—and it delivered. Pika is an "idea-to-video" platform that leverages AI to simplify the creation of high-quality videos, enabling users to generate and edit videos in various styles: 3D animation, anime, cartoon, and cinematic. It’s designed to make video production more accessible and enjoyable. While it's slowly rolling out to the public (I'm still on the waitlist), early testers, including influential figures in AI, have found it epic. Check out Matt Wolfe’s video walkthrough for an in-depth look.
Jasper AI
This recent addition to the toolbox has been making waves online since early 2022. JasperAI (previously known as JarvisAI, until Marvel’s thinly veiled threated resulted in a rebrand) employs artificial intelligence to swiftly summarize diverse content types, such as YouTube videos and website articles. It's proving invaluable for individuals and businesses seeking to save time and effort in content creation and information consumption. At the recent CONVERGE virtual summit, Jasper's VP of Marketing, Meghan Keaney Anderson, delivered a keynote titled "How to Break Out of Your AI Pilot Phase", offering valuable insights into efficient AI utilization. GEMINI PRO
Google’s new multimodal AI isn’t all it’s quacked out to be
Google’s new multimodal AI, Gemini Pro, has been causing a stir lately. Marketed as a model capable of understanding, summarizing, reasoning, coding, and planning (in simpler terms), it's currently available for trial in Google Bard. However, despite its promises, recent revelations suggest the highly impressive video demo released was heavily edited, presenting Gemini Pro as more advanced than it actually is. Google defended this by explaining, "We created the demo by capturing footage to test Gemini's capabilities on various challenges, then prompted Gemini using still image frames from the footage and text prompts." This incident has sparked controversy and drawn comparisons to historical skepticism, like the belief that the Moon landing was faked. To explore further, you can view Gemini in action via Skill Leap AI.

AI ART EXPERIMENT
Leonardo’s take on the matrix
Another intriguing AI experiment. A pleasant departure from last week’s nightmare fuel. Inspired by a beautiful image on Leonardo from Hybridcut52, I decided to remix the image to see how Leonardo’s Signature model conceptualises female hackers. The outcome was surprisingly impressive.
